Accessing and Grading Turnitin Submissions

Accessing Submissions

You can manage all Turnitin content and settings within Canvas. The Turnitin LTI integration supports all of Turnitin's proprietary tools: OriginalityCheck, GradeMark, and PeerMark. The Canvas Plagiarism Framework integration supports OriginalityCheck only. You can read more about the differences between the two Turnitin integration types by referencing the tutorial posted earlier in this course.

Once you have created and published the assignment, students submit their assignments directly in Canvas. Please note that the Student View does not support Turnitin assignments as the Test Student. You can review the Student Experience module in this course to learn more about how students experience Turnitin assignments.

NOTE: The Turnitin LTI is responsive to the size of your browser window. Your view of the Turnitin LTI may vary from the images shown in this lesson.

Note: If you allow assignment resubmissions as part of the Turnitin Settings Originality Report drop-down menu, you will see a blue upload icon [1}. If you see a black upload icon [2], assignment resubmissions are either turned off in Turnitin Settings or the due date has passed, as resubmissions are only allowed until the due date. However, if an assignment is resubmitted, all marks and comments associated with the original submission will be deleted. Turnitin resubmissions may take up to 24 hours to process.

However, some instructors choose to use Turnitin for its Originality Score feature only and provide feedback and grades via Speedgrader. To view or grade the submission in SpeedGrader, click the SpeedGrader button [2].
