Write down your comments for each Animatic.
Some evaluation outlines to consider in your feedback and comments:
+Story structure:
-The world and characters are introduced
-The conflict of the story is clear
-Each character serves a clear purpose in unfolding the story
-Characters’ wants and needs are defined with clarity
-The characters’ arc, the way they act before the conflict and how they change after the conflict)
-The ending fits with other elements of the story that were introduced at the beginning.
+Clarity:
-Specifying needed frames for conveying information and feelings. Including all the necessary key poses for each shot.
-Staging and framing; a clear visual indication of the environment; the size of the space where characters are, correct perspective, and the placement of elements of each shot and their distance to each other and camera.
-Composition; silhouette of characters, shapes, and a balance between positive and negative space
-Expressive key poses that show what characters feel and do without verbal or written indications.
-Quality of drawings, using brush thickness and opacity to show important elements and differentiate background from important elements of each shot.
+Cinematic language:
-The natural flow of the shots and their continuity
-The conscious choices of using a variety of shots to convey meaning and mood.
-Choices of dynamic shots and camera movements
+Timing:
-Emotions take time to be felt, and information needs time to be processed in our mind. Time here means time in the cinematic meaning: the time specified to the shot, the number of shots used to describe the moment, and the keyframes for each shot. Comment on these elements in the reel.
-The timing that gives a feeling of watching a complete animation. Not too fast and not too slow.
