Milestone 2 Goals: Production I
- Due Feb 20, 2019 by 11:30am
- Points 1
- Submitting a text entry box or a file upload
*Work with your group to come up with an even distribution of tasks for this milestone that will help you finish the project to your satisfaction on time.
This is a collaborative task, each person in the group should be able to work on areas of interest, but everyone should be willing to do work that is not their 1st choice for the benefit of the project.
Milestone tasks are a way to help ensure balance in the project & that everything gets done - they are not a road map to an A. Completing your tasks does not guarantee an A. You will be evaluated on the amount of time and energy you commit to the project as well as the quality of your work.
Example of General Goals for Milestone 2:
-Finish up any unfinished pre-production tasks from Milestone 1:
-Character sheet that shows proportions of all characters
-Final Animatic(2D group) or Previz(3D group) for at least 5 scenes
-Final character design(2D group) or final 3D meshes of characters (3D group)
-Animating style with colors and line works to compare concepts and styles
-Naming conventions and folder structures
-Decide about scenes to animate
-Layouts for scenes to be animated
-Opening credits
2D Group:
-Layouts and backgrounds for scenes
-Provide color palettes for each scene to be animated
-Come up with a regular checkpoint for animated scenes: Check layout and keyframes, check final animation, final line work, color
-Final recording of dialogues, sound effects, music.
3D Groups:
-Character Rigs
-Finish 3D modeling environment and props
-Texturing and shading
-Lighting
-Test renders of still frames from layout
More than one person can be working toward a goal in some cases, but each person should have specific tasks written out.
Since nearly everything is scalable, make sure you include the amount of time that is planned for each task. You don't need to always aim to get things done as quickly as possible, but having a set amount of time for each task will help you prioritize the most important elements and not spin your wheels on unimportant elements. Tasks for this milestone should add up to at least the 27 hours expected from a studio course (9 hours per week).
All members should be involved in coming up with the tasks for the milestone. Provide me with a written list of tasks each team member will be doing for the milestone.
This should be formatted as follows:
John- Overall hours: 27
-look development including lighting and rendering shot 4 (15 hours)
-texture and shader work on bird character (10 hours)
-meetings (2 hours)
…
Sallie- Overall hours: 27
-layout animation for shots 7 - 10 (7 hours)
-rig main character (10 hours)
-meetings (2 hours)
-art direction (8 hours)
…
Submission:
-Only one member of each team should submit this assignment for the whole group.
Make sure you keep a record of your tasks and works you do for this milestone in writing, images, screen captures, etc. Milestone 2 submission is a report of your contribution.
