Getting Started with Clickers: Things to Consider!

Clickers require students to purchase additional materials, therefore it is best to decide to utilize them a semester in advance.
If you are curious to learn more about Clickers and/or to use them in the future, it is pertinent to schedule a meeting with ETL staff to discuss your needs since Clickers are not a good fit for every class. You can do this by emailing the OIT Help Desk at helpdesk@uah.edu or by calling 256-824-3333.
If Clickers are right for you, contact the UAH Bookstore so that they can order the appropriate amount of Clickers for your class/classes.
Decide how you want to deal with attendance (if at all). If you want to use Clickers to track participation, there are specific settings you'll want in place before you start polling your students.
Add information for your students in course materials so that they understand what is required of them. See Content in Syllabus & Creating the PointSolutions Registration Link.
Before the semester begins, it is essential to run several tests to make sure you understand the workflow sequence, and to ensure everything is functioning properly, and tailored to your needs.
It is recommended to have low-stakes Clicker assignments early in the semester so that any technical issues can be resolved for students without it adversely affecting their grade. These could be such as polling to see which students are freshmen, sophomores, etc. Also, you could poll to ask majors for the student such as: Engineering, Biology, Psychology, or Other. These "assignments" could be counted as 1 point for their cumulative grade or added to their final grade in the course.

When using PointSolutions with Panopto, you must open PointSolutions first, then open Panopto. Otherwise, neither will work properly.
